Your Wedding
Congratulations on your decision to marry. Getting married is one of the most important decisions you will ever make, so it is only fitting that your wedding ceremony is one full of happy memories as well as providing a special sense of occasion.
With my assistance, your ceremony can run smoothly and be hassle-free if you take the following steps…
- Establish the time, date and venue for your wedding. Also consider the time of year you may wish to marry (July to mid-November is a very busy time for weddings in Port Douglas).
- Go to the Contact/Inquiry page and complete the inquiry form. Fill out as much as you can and submit. This information will be electronically sent to me and I will confirm my availability and a full quote within 24 hours (in most cases).
- If born in Australia, locate your Original Birth Certificate (or a certified copy) for each partner and photocopy both. Have the photocopies certified by the person who witnesses your signatures when you sign the NOIM.
- Lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage and the certified copies of your birth certificates (or a copy of your current international passport if you were born overseas) with me no less than one calendar month and one day prior to your wedding day. This can be mailed to me (or if you are overseas you can fax/email the documents and bring the originals with you so I can view them prior to the ceremony). Both parties must sign the notice in the presence of a legal authority prior to forwarding to me (for more information go to the Legal Requirements page).
- If you have been married previously, you must produce either the original of your Divorce Certificate (Decree Absolute), or the Death Certificate of your former spouse.
- I will provide you with Sample Ceremonies, Sample Readings and a selection of ideas on incorporating Symbols and Rituals into the ceremony. You will also be given a Personal Questionnaire to complete so I can get to know you both better.
- Begin to consider what you want to incorporate in your ceremony (see Things to Consider)
- About 3 weeks prior to your ceremony, confirm with me a date and time to hold your pre-ceremony meeting.
- If a rehearsal is impossible to organise or not necessary, it is desirable that we should meet - if only one or two days prior to your wedding day - to go over the finer details of your ceremony and check all paperwork is in order.
- I will email you the final draft of the ceremony approximately three weeks prior to your big day (as long as information and selections are provided to me by then). Read the draft thoroughly and confirm any changes back to me.
- Remember, I am here to help you and my service includes unlimited consultation.
- I wish you the best of luck and have fun planning your wedding!
